The Beginning

Hey guys! My name is Cory O’Donoghue and welcome to my first official blog. These blogs are going to be covering some of the most fantastic technologies made in the past decade so far! each week ill be discussing something new so I hope you all stay tuned. This weeks topic will be talking about one of AI’s (artificial intelligence) main focus. ROBOTS. As we verge into the new decade the likelihood that our future is seeming to be molded into the movie i robots is terrifying. There is constantly new leaps been taking in the robotics field. If we take a look into Japans robotic labs we witness one of the most realistic androids ever created. Hiroshi Ishiguro, director of the Intelligent robotics Laboratory at Osaka University created Erica the robot in 2015. I mean this robot Erika is more life like than some people you interact with on  day to day basis! She has the ability to maintain a conversation and respond to questions simultaneously showing different facial features. In one of her interviews Erika was asked what was her age ,surprisingly her reply being “I’d rather not say that’s a slightly rude question” all the time maintaining eye contact and following her interviewers every move. it is highly possible that robots are going to become the future. Especially since Japan believe by 2035 nearly half of all jobs could be performed by robots. Amazingly the Japanese have shown formidable acceptance of robots within the last year Pepper, a humanoid home robot, went on sale to individual consumers in June, with each shipment selling out in under a minute. What I want to know is how long before the rest of the world adapts japans welcoming mentality towards androids?
